Yoga. It’s more about the journey…

💚Yoga. It’s more about the journey, less about the destination.

💚It’s less about conquering complex and physically demanding poses, more about cultivating awareness and a desire to return to the mat again and again to make steady progress rather than striving for perfection.

💚There’s nothing wrong in feeling overjoyed when we nail a pose but if we attach all our focus on reaching the destination, we might forget to notice what happens along the way!

💚For many of us, yoga starts as a type of exercise but soon becomes a journey towards heightened awareness. Our practice helps us notice the connection between mind and body. We learn to take one day at a time and gradually we are able to accept things for the way they are - while reaping the benefits of the physical practice.

💚In the beginning my yoga practice was a series of postures to learn but then one day I noticed something new, something different. I was paying attention to how I was moving between each pose and it mattered as much as the actual pose. I started to veer off the tracks and experiment with my breath and movement to see where it led me. I felt a real connection with each inhalation as it helped me find space where I needed it, while the exhalation took me deeper into my practice. My breath and movement were totally conscious and deliberate. It was a huge revelation as it dawned on me that there was no end point in sight, no goal, no requirement to work out where I was going. 💛
