It’s not just trees that need a strong trunk…

🌴It’s not just trees that need a strong trunk! The human trunk (torso) is a vital part of any motion the body performs. The core muscles of the trunk are often the first muscles activated to maintain stability, even when simply standing tall. For some, standing in mountain pose or volcano pose (swipe 👉) for any length of time can be challenging if the core is weak.

🌴Having a strong trunk helps us transfer force from one part of the body to another, helping us move with integrity, reducing the risk of injury and increasing sustainability in our movement.

🌴Our most critical organs are housed within the trunk, while it also harbours many of the main groups of muscles and nerves in the body.

🌴Caring for your core will help to stabilise the spine, improve balance (particularly important as we get older), promote healthy leg muscle function which can reduce hip and knee problems.

🌴Yoga is a great way to strengthen and stimulate your trunk as almost every pose requires you to activate your core!
