      <image:title>My Yoga Story</image:title>
      <image:caption>Meet Beks Yoga became an important part of my life over 20 years ago, although it wasn't until I sustained a spinal injury in a car accident that yoga took on a far deeper, more transformative role. What followed was a dramatic shift—from a previously active lifestyle and dynamic yoga practice to years filled with medical procedures, rehabilitation, alternative therapies, and deep personal reflection. Through this experience, I came to understand that yoga isn't about being good at something; it's about being good to yourself. In 2014, at the age of 36, with a busy four-year-old son to care for, I underwent a two-level disc replacement surgery (C5/6 and C6/7) in my cervical spine. The operation was a success, but recovery was a slow and humbling journey. Years of chronic pain had left me with little muscle memory, limited upper body strength, and diminished confidence in my body. Through a deeper connection with my yoga practice, I gradually began to feel like myself again. Yoga became a pathway to healing—not only physically, but mentally and emotionally too. It taught me to meet myself where I was, to rebuild strength with patience and compassion, and to listen more deeply to the needs of my body. This experience continues to shape the way I teach today. My classes are not about achieving the perfect pose; they are about creating space to breathe, move mindfully, build awareness, and cultivate a kinder relationship with yourself. I believe yoga should be accessible, supportive, and adaptable to the individual, wherever they are on their journey. My teaching is informed by extensive training and ongoing study. I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with the ULU School of Yoga and hold an additional 85-hour Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training certification with Arhanta Yoga. I have also undertaken specialist studies in anatomy, sequencing, meditation, chakra theory, and functional movement, including training with internationally respected teachers such as Jason Crandall and Paul Grilley. My further studies include Bare Bones Yoga Anatomy and a range of continuing education courses exploring the therapeutic and holistic aspects of yoga. Whether you are completely new to yoga, returning after injury, navigating a life transition, or looking to deepen your existing practice, I warmly invite you to join me on the mat. Together, we'll explore this ancient practice in a safe, welcoming, and supportive space—connecting mind, body, and breath, and discovering how yoga can help you feel stronger, calmer, and more at home within yourself.
